Comprehensive Fertility Assessments

At Fostering Greatness our comprehensive assessments ensure intended parents’ peace of mind in knowing that not only are they prepared for the process ahead, but their egg donors’, sperm donors’, and/or gestational carriers’ mental well-being has been thoroughly assessed as well. These assessments also provide donors and carriers with crucial insights and prepares them for the process ahead. These factors combined promote the overall success of the donation and/or surrogacy journey.

Our Assessment Process:

1. Psychological Interview & Psychoeducational Consultation

A comprehensive psychosocial interview is conducted with the intended parent/s, egg donor, sperm donor, and/or gestational carrier and psychoeducation is provided surrounding the process ahead. 

This interview and consultation for donors and carriers explores the various aspects of donation and being a carrier, facilitates open discussion surrounding expectations, boundaries, and concerns, allows for the understanding of their mental health history, reproductive history and plans for the future, their emotional well-being, and explores potential risk factors and concerns.

This interview and consultation for the intended parent/s guides the parent/s in understanding, planning for, and navigating the many aspects of assisted reproduction.

A joint psychoeducational consultation is also offered for the intended parent/s with their donor and their gestational carrier (and their partner, if applicable) to create a strong foundation for the process ahead by establishing boundaries, setting expectations, and planning for the ongoing relationship.

2. Psychological Testing (for all donors and carriers)

A Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) is administered to all egg donors, sperm donors, and gestational carriers to assess various aspects of their mental health and overall mental well-being including personality traits, emotional stability, and resilience factors.

3. Risk Assessment (for all donors & carriers)

A risk assessment is completed where the mental well-being of the donor and/or carrier is further evaluated. Risk factors explored include the donor’s and/or carrier’s mental health history and current functioning, medical history and current diagnoses, past and current substance use and/or abuse, medical and psychological family history, and environmental factors.

4. Recommendation Report

A detailed recommendation report is provided to the referring fertility clinic highlighting the findings of the assessment with recommendations for further consideration, where appropriate.

Important Details to Know

  1. In order to schedule your assessment appointment, payment is required in advance of your appointment being scheduled. Fees for each appointment type are below. The fees for these appointments include the appointment itself and all paperwork. 
  2. The evaluation appointment lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how much information you have to provide and how chatty we are, and occurs by phone.
  3. Participants must attend the appointment with their significant other, should one be involved, but the call can be a conference call if you are both not physically together at the time of the appointment. This includes recipients, carriers, and donors.
  4. Everyone in attendance must be physically located in New Jersey or Delaware during their appointment.
  5. My office hours are 9:30am – 5pm, Monday – Thursday. Depending on the timing you require, the appointment may not be able to be scheduled until 3-4 weeks out, as popular timeframes book up quickly.   • Gestational Carrier Assessment: $490
  • Egg or Sperm Donor Assessment: $490
